Why in the world did Dorothy want to go home??? Home to what???? We drove....and drove....and drove today. I think we decided that we drove for almost 9 hours. The praries of Kansas are really pretty cool. Not much on them. Will kept looking for prarie dogs, and we saw three.........dead on the road. The last hour we began to see oil wells. Julie said that there is absolutely no overpopulation of the earth. All you have to do is transplant people to Kansas, and everyone would have more than enough land. The Kansas turnpike toll booth gave us the humor for the day, as I asked the young lady in the booth "Are there any tornadoes up yonder?" to which she laughed and replied, "No". Julie was so embarrassed that she covered her face with pillows, while the kids laughed and laughed.
Today we played scavenger hunt while driving....so you know it must have been a looooong drive. Tomorrow, we are up early, and driving to Colorado Springs. It is 5 hours, and we plan to be there for lunch. The afternoon is full with a visit to the "garden of the gods", a visit to the Air Force Academy and then a dinner at the Flying W Ranch.
I noticed that no one is leaving us any comments.....we solicit....no, we LIVE for those! O.K., so maybe we aren't that desperate, but we do like them. In fact we discuss as we are pulling into a new town "I wonder who has left us a comment?"
Till next time....

How is your cold? Must be better after traveling for 9 hours. Yes, there is still a lot of land available in the midwest for anyone who wants to live in that area. The winds blow and blow and blow. Colorada Springs will look so much better with the green valleys and then the mountains. I am sure you don't remember, but we ate at the flying w ranch many, many years ago. Hope you all continue to have a great trip and you are just beginning to get to see the territory you were looking forward to.
Love to all,
Mawmaw and Granddaddy
Okay, so am I the only desperate relative of Julie's that enjoy reading your post or is it that I don't have a job and have nothing else to do? Either way, I look forward to reading your post. I didn't know you were so funny Jeff. I just thought you could mix a mean drink! Whoops - I didn’t get you in trouble for that, did I?!? LOL! I think the entire LANEFAM should take turns writing an entry so we could get everyone's perspective. I can’t believe Marissa and Julie haven’t piped in yet. Marissa, are you still working hard at getting that "Best Traveler Award"? GO RISSA! On a different note, Mike and I did try to out run a tornado when we went to NE one time for a reunion. NE is VERY similar to KS. Get a steak in CO, corn fed beef is the best! Drive safe!
Love ya, AS
I hope this works and I'm not sure what I did to get it to work. We are e-mailing each other trying to figure out how to respond and hope this works. I have received several e-mails form members of the class. It sounds like you are having a great time. Bud is checking the map to see why you were in KY after Nashville. He figured it out. You are going out the way we came back from MO last year. Sorry about the cold. Take care and know you have people praying for you and wishing we were there. We'll have to have a get together for you to share pictures and stories before Hannah leaves if possible because I'm sure her stories will reallly be good.
Take care.
